Last year I authored an article with two esteemed colleagues on the method we had developed for producing language learning podcasts at Babbel. We developed a range of techniques and approaches with a pilot season of a podcast for German-speaking English learners, called Auf Sprachreise, which we called ‘Accessible, Authentic Audio for Beginners’. Our goal was to create a learning experience that to the greatest extent possible felt like the thing that the language learner was trying to achieve, their learning goal. So, for German speakers who wanted to learn English, we knew that they were quite often interested in English as a global language, and those learning as adults often either wanted to learn in order to travel, or wanted to learn simply not to get left behind by a world rapidly globalising in English. I’ll write in the future in more detail about how we went about creating language learning experiences like that, but for now, feel free to have a look at the article, ‘Babbel Language Learning Podcasts”.
